Knitscene Fall 2018: A Review
Knitscene has released their Fall 2018 issue. let's see, right?
French shirt. Not bad. Attaching these open center braids to the sleeves adds a modern twist to a classic woven sweater.
Felicity Jumper. Dessert. I love the inclusion of lace in the braids.
Greta vest. Another nice modern take on the bias cardigan, but I'd like to change the simple hem. There is nothing modern or cool about mullet.
Lucia sweater. I like the art deco style tied with the detailed laces and cuffs, but I would have corrected the hunched shoulders.
Olivia sweater. Quite smart and bright.
Susie's jacket. Really attractive and portable with an interesting detail on the cable running through the back. I would evaluate the possibility of making them myself.
Natalia sweater. The designer tried to introduce some asymmetry in this article, but failed to achieve the balance required by asymmetry. With one drawstring sleeve and another plain, and all those drawstring details in the lower two thirds of the body, this design feels heavy and slanted.
Leonor gloves. They are so big and thick that they look more like pot holders than gloves for the cold.
Wendy Cole. Dessert. This is a graphically stunning model.
Margo Hout. To be fair, it looks like a deluxe edition of a thrift store the publisher picked (and even more inexplicably styled like a prairie dress) because it didn't meet the design quota for this edition.
Kate vest. This looks cute, fun and young. Beautiful molding and play of colors.
Ingrid cardigan. This would be a useful top coat for fall. And a way to brighten up the wearer's day by choosing such a vibrant color.
Agate scarf. Very nice embroidery on this one. It's like an art print.
Beatrice sweater. I like the concept of the lace panel, but not that the lace detail hangs under the edge of the body of the sweater. It looks like a bug. I would pin it so that the sweater has a straight edge all the way around.
Helen Cool. Really great embroidery and I love the combination of turquoise and copper.
(At the time of writing, there are no Ravelri for this cover and the following three pages.) I like this one, which looks like a seascape.
I also like this with its simple but effective breakpoint.
A garter is a good way to show off the yarn you've knitted yourself.
I love the combination of teal, lime and white, as well as the garter belt and jersey stitching. They launched.
Claire sweater. Some nice yoke details on this one and the shape is perfect.
