Vogue Knitting Summer 2017: A Review
Vogue Knitting has released the Summer 2017 issue . Let's take a look at all the bounties and work of summer indoors.
Model No. 1, Rouen lace. Beautiful lace and drape. A Rouen girdle, like this one, helps keep the look attractive.
Model #2 oversized sweater. It's like a mesh bag with sleeves, and all day with all that extra rope floating under my armpits it can drive me up against the wall.
Model nº 3, lace sweatshirt. If someone had told me beforehand that there was a lace hoodie in this issue of Vogue Knitting , I wouldn't have had high hopes, but it really is a great piece. The combination of lace and this kind of sporty style works well, resulting in a very pretty ensemble that is neither too casual nor too formal for everyday wear but also has all the charm of a fun and unexpected design touch. Also, the lace is beautiful and the style is perfect.
Reason number 4, lace skirt. It's pretty cute, and like the model description says, it can be worn with a blouse and heels or a t-shirt and sandals, but the pastel pink yarn brings me closer to doily territory. I would choose a less subtle shade of yarn.
Model No. 5 Poncho with tip tester. It looks like a lace tablecloth with a cutout.
Model nº 6, thigh-high socks. They're very cute (ie cute lace, great design) and I'm definitely interested in them given my arrears fetish, but I wonder how wearable they'd be in the summer even in cotton. First of all, they don't look good with sandals or any summer footwear I can think of. I think I would make them out of wool to wear in cold weather.
Model nº 7, lace sweater with leaves. Very nice lace.
Model #8, a scarf inspired by a blanket. If you are the type of person who has the style to wear a very loose lace scarf, I recommend it. If you think you lack style (like me), make this shawl without the extra fringe and enjoy your beautiful afghan.
Socks model nº 9. Like this one, with its elegant and retro side.
Scheme No. 10, bell. Good room. I like that it has reverse coloring on the inside.
Model No. 11, hat. So does this diamond effect hat.
Model nº 12, short t-shirt. So smart and so detailed. This is a short length, but if it doesn't fit you or the wearer, you can easily lengthen the garment.
Model No. 13, Sanquhar Gloves. Just like this. They have a place on the wrist to add the wearer's initials, which is a fun extra touch.
Model No. 14 Arbor Cardigan. I'm not usually a fan of draped front cardigans, but this one suits me really well and the intricate pattern on the front and back is a work of art.
Scheme #15, Maev Hood. Nice blade tip and fits very well.
Model No. 16, poncho with tassels. While I respect the fact that Vogue Knitting is totally committed to this look and sports a tasseled capri capri over the model, this poncho still looks like something out of a '70s housewife magazine.
Model #17, textured tank. Simple and portable.
Model nº 18, striped linen sweater. An interesting twist on the classic Breton striped shirt.
Casual t-shirt model nº 19. There is a relaxed fit, there is a "depressed and scratched on the couch watching movies of a lifetime" character, and this is one of the last.
Shirt Model No. 20 Spike. I like this top overall (nice colors and stitching) but have my doubts about the slightly loose fit at the waist. But it is not possible to add a size to each garment because sometimes it gets in the way of the pattern and there are people who like and/or wear what the description of this pattern calls a "bluish cut".
Model No. 21 Oversize Scarf. Another dramatic sized scarf, though the cut here is much less impressive. I'd be inclined to leave this piece on the sofa.
Model number 22, swing jersey on the back. I would consider making it a bit longer than expected and using it as a beach blanket.
Model No. 23, mesh jacket. I love this one, it has clean lines and would make a very useful little topper for summer.
Model nº 24, short lace cardigan. I'm not thrilled with this model which is a Vogue Knitting Spring/Summer 1995 reissue. It looks too much like glued-on random lace patterns. Vogue Knitting styled it right here as it looks great layered over a bodycon dress with a sheer lining.
