In late 2006 I bought $40 cranberry acrylic yarn from Spinrite Factory Sales in Listowell , Ontario where I got a very second rate $40 yarn. I searched the Ravelry pattern database for an example of combining baby yarn with heavy yarn. I am very pleased with the result. The jacket is nice and looks good. I hardly knit with synthetic yarn anymore, but acrylic curls are an exception. They are incredibly light, comfortable and comfortable to wear. However, it can be a bit awkward to work with as you can barely see the added details. When working with curls, patterns are best kept clear. I can't do anything better than this jacket. In fact, when I was working on a knitted corset, I always wanted to go back to it, spend long minutes trying to figure out which loops are connected, which are flat, and which loops should be on top of others. In 2014 , the kind people at Darn Good Yarn sent me a free sample of the product you see in the photo above . I searched the Ravelry pattern database for an example of a DK sweater for two little girls in two colors and found the Color Me Pretty Sweater pattern by Elena Nodel. In 2016 I knitted a sweater in DK jersey green yarn using green yarn over this Manos del Uruguay Alegria . The project was a big mistake as Green DK completely refused to recover as the quality loom made the finished piece awful. I looked for a copy at Ravery that required 200 grams of fingerprints and found it at Grace and Farrow's Trestle . It only took 100 grams of contrasting colors, but I figured it would be nice since Allegria would have enough left to make a pair of socks. My next step was to visit Romney Wools and pick a base color. I chose 400 grams of Alpaca Merino Fine 411 yarn from Estelle Yarns in a beautiful dark olive color.
Here is my finished sweater. I'm happy. The yarn works well, although I don't have any skirts in this fabric, the sweater goes well with jeans I made a few years ago, an olive green khaki and a few olive velvet trousers. While I haven't changed the look of the sweater, I have made some technical changes. This project plan started to take shape when I saw that these two sticks were in a shell box and I was amazed at how well the shades matched. In March 2017, when one of my closest friends was vacationing with his family in Prince Edward Island, Pembroke Farm surprised me with a two-pronged rope he bought from PEI.
