12 Months; 18 Projects

It's time to dump her and move on. Are you ready to step into my knitted life in 2017?

At the end of 2006, I bought a second blueberry acrylic yarn for $ 40 at Spinrite Factory Outlet in Listwell , Ontario, where I bought a VERY second yarn for $ 40. From this yarn I first made an afghan for my living room , then a t-shirt for one of my granddaughters, one of my granddaughters, and then a friend (who told me he loves wool so much that he want me to make it) what I made in the living room). Afghan). There are still 250 grams of blueberry flakes left, but after three articles I have no other plans for the thread, I keep it to wait its fate. When I looked at the rest of the blueberry in 2016, in December of this year, while thinking about what I could make with yarn for my boyfriend, Olivia's daughter, I thought it might be enough to make a small 12 month jacket. I shall. Become an interesting color. For her, Olivia has olive eyes, medium brown hair and light olive skin (as you probably already know, it's a beautiful name).

I searched Ravelry's model database for an example of a kids jacket that would fit a large, heavy yarn. I came across some patterns that I did not like to wear, but their pattern page at least confirms that 250 grams of brochure wool should be enough to make the style and size of the jacket as much as I thought. I have not tried to put on a hat, from which so much information is obtained. Eventually I got a model that was already in my library, Smock with Sheep and Shoes , designed by Debbie Bliss (shown in the Ravelry member's photo above) and customized.

The pattern calls for heavy DK yarn, so I keep counting, scraping the paper to process the set number of stitches and lines as I go. I do not like hollow necks, so I chose flat necks. I do not like the details of the wool, so I made the cuffs with ropes that fit the bottom edge, and the rest of the wool I knitted with plain socks. I would like to knit a bag at the front, but I'm not sure I have enough yarn, so I find it best to stick to the bag technology that the design requires, so I can not do it myself when the rest of the jacket is ready. After all, there was enough yarn to make two bags, but I only made one because I thought it looked better. the two bags looked very symmetrical. And instead of knitting moss or pocket stitch, I made a heart of beige yarn left over from another quilt to make the jacket's look a little softer.

I am very pleased with the result. The jacket looks good and looks pretty good. I no longer knit with synthetic yarn, but an acrylic book is an exception. It is very light and comfortable to wear. But working with it can be a little frustrating as you can barely see any details in it. When working with a brochure, it is best to keep the example clear. I will not be more complicated than with this jacket. So when I work on a checkered bra, I find that I am constantly stuck, spending centuries trying to figure out which stitches are the belts, what the socks are, which stitches to wear. the others when they were over. And again, these would mean that you have to spend for these processes.

It took 235g of stored yarn to make this jacket and I only have 20g left of the blueberry booklet. With three jerseys in Afghanistan, I can not say I did not get the money for that $ 40.

In 2014, the good people at Darn Good Yarn sent me a free sample of their product , which you can see in the picture above. The heavy DK roll Roving wire (which apparently does not have a Ravelry page) sat in my warehouse for two and a half years while I figured out how to best use it. While I found the threads attractive, I did not use pink, purple, yellow or light blue (or did not look good), so I excluded any design. My granddaughter, Cauliflower, loves to look good in those colors, so I initially named her as her target recipient and then decided last year that this yarn would work well as a contrasting sweater for her 8th birthday gift.

I searched the Ravelry model database for a sweater model for a girl looking for two DK colors and found the My Colors Beautiful Xweater model designed by Elena Nodel. It is absolutely gorgeous, beautifully shaped, and the beautiful island floral pattern will go well with the colorful silk threads. Then I went to Romney Wools with rolls of silk, where I tried to get the right base color for the sweater. I chose 350 grams of light blue Loyal DK.

And here is the resulting sweater: 8 sizes. This is a very well written example. very detailed, simple, easy to follow. I am happy with my version of the overall sweater, although I preferred to use a lighter blue for the base color as some seams were lost as the Side Blue and Royal Blue were so similar. Small quarrel aside, the colors made for an interesting combination that would look beautiful on the cauliflower, which has split skin, blue eyes and light brown hair.

With the rest of the wool I made the corresponding hat. The sweatshirt, hat, dollar store coloring book, notebook, pencil case that I bought as a gift for my 8th birthday were all very pretty.

I have 10 grams of new Loyal and used half of the 100 gram rolls of Silk Roving DK, which means the net drop on this project was 40 grams. Now I have to figure out how to use the other half of Silk Roving. I really hope this project gets the most out of it.

In 2016, I knitted this DK green wool sweater knitted by Alegria Manos del Uruguay with the green ball pictured above. This design was a big mistake as the green DK literally refused to turn again, as is often the case with good quality knitting yarns, which wasted the finished item. I immediately learned that I would never use it, that I now have to make a layout plan for * two * bundles of yarn instead of one: green and Allegria. My first attempt to remove the stash resulted in at least two subsequent garbage removal projects. It was like decapitating a hydra. It's a good thing I really like this Joy thread for her sake.

I was looking for a Ravelry cartridge that requires 200 grams of primary wire and found this one, Trestle , by Grace Ann Farrow. It only took 100 grams of contrasting colors, but I decided it would be nice because it would leave enough Allegria to make some socks. My next step was to visit Romney Wools and choose the base color. I ordered the Estelle 400g Alpaca Merino Fine yarn in 411 colors which is a beautiful dark olive green.

And here is my sweater ready. I'm happy with that. The yarns blend well and although I do not have a skirt that will fit this dress, the sweater will look gorgeous with jeans I made a few years ago, olive green khaki or olive green velvet pants. Although I left the look of the jersey unchanged, I made some technical changes. I have a Ravelry user who also made this material to thank me for saving her knitting time, because when I checked her design page, I noticed that many complained that the strap was too narrow and dropped the wires . required for the surface of the armpit to become very large. I measured the tire and released the corresponding crane. I shortened the body of the sweater two inches as it had to be 25 "while 23" was the perfect length for me. Luckily I did, because otherwise I would have closed the topic. I only have 30 grams of Estelle's fingers left, I doubt it will be enough to lengthen the jersey's body two centimeters. I also used 130 grams of Allegria instead of the 100 gram model group, but luckily I have two strings.

Allegria and Estelle's beautiful strings are fun to work with, but each has a downside. I noticed that Joy faded quite a bit when I showered (I washed Joy and the spring green sweater twice and tried to turn the spring green yarn around). There is a big difference between the Ball of Joy that was used to make this fatal jersey and the Ball of Joy that was not used at all. I did not then think about painting it, but the difference is noticeable in the details of the photo above. I initially used waste yarn and the top was chopped yarn. stomach wire, more clearly visible than below. I figured the old and new threads would more or less match after a few were.

As for Estelle's direction, it seems to be one of the strands that tends to pull hair. While knitting, I constantly pulled my hair with cat fur, which does not bode well for the future. Oh, I'm still glad I did this part. This is a very nice sweater design. As I often say in my knitwear design presentations, sewing patterns tend to look like beginner patterns; And like the Amande Tee I created in 2016 , this is a modern sweater with a 30s twist.

When I completed this project, I had 30 grams of new Estelle yarn left over and used 130 grams of Alegria stock yarn, which means a net loss of 100 grams. Not bad and I have two enough topics to create something else that you will read more about in this post.

This is the 2017 version of the sandals I make for my dad every year. I think this is the twelfth couple I have created. The father had a severe case of rheumatoid arthritis and his knees and legs were seriously injured. His shoes always hurt his feet until it breaks. She needed specially made shoes, but she refused to spend the money it would cost or wear them so my mother could buy them. for her. These sandals, with special soft heels, at least let you walk comfortably at home. The model is an example of Vogue Knitting from 1992/1993. by winter edition . I changed the pattern by knitting two inserts for each sandal (one on the top yarn and one at the bottom for the tight yarn), placing two dollar inserts in each pair of heels, knitting it. knit, then knit the top of the edge of the knit. Fold the heel with elastic thread, because it does not stick. Dad wore all the sandals until it broke after a year, so I went with the loose thread, or rather the heavy yarn I had, and if I had to cut the thread to make the second thread, it was well. with me The fibers used here are from my store. Even the heavy yarn I used to make the bottom was not enough, so this time I knitted it with rayon. When I do not have enough yarn to make a second pair of inserts, I use a large dark blue yarn for the ends of the soles. To see it, you have to go back in the sandal. I'm not sure Dad would like this golden brown because he does not like brown, gold will look too bright for him, but the sandals looked dark enough to wear on Christmas morning. Hey, they are not hot pink.

This project consumes 150 grams of stored yarn.

Plans for this project came to me when I got these two chains in my yarn box and was amazed at how well the patterns fit together. I think the third color orange or the other shade of brown will bring it together a lot as it will allow me to weave what I want. I've had this bob for a long time, and his ball set is not long. I'm pretty sure orange wool is classic Patons wool with a burnt orange tint, but I have no idea what wool is, though I know it's pure wool.

I was looking for a model on Ravelry that requires 100 grams of two contrasting colors, and I came across this one, Frost All Grown Up , designed by Unnur Eva Arnarsdóttir. Then I went to Romney Wools and bought 500 grams of Diamond Galway Heathers yarn with tea. My color scheme, instead of the typical winter colors, will be the warm and vibrant colors that suit me best.

And here is the result. The pattern is pretty well written, and the sweater knits without any problems. I'm a little dissatisfied that this project does not require as much wire as the example says. I used about 315 grams of brown yarn (the patterns are called 500 grams), about 25 grams of dark brown yarn, about 20 grams of orange yarn (when the patterns require 100 grams each). This means that this project, which was supposed to reduce the size of my storage, increased it by 40 grams. (I can spin the Galway Heather roll or 100 grams more). I really liked the sweaters I got, but I did not need much, the lesson I learned was that I had to be more careful when planning my declassification projects. I had to realize that this sweater would use less yarn than in the photo, I also had to avoid buying too many yarns to use less yarn than I already have.

In March 2017, one of my closest friends surprised me with a two-string gift purchased from a farm in Pembroke on Prince Edward Island while he and his family were on vacation in PEI. The strings are variegated with beautiful shades of warm pink that I am closest to wearing pink. No information on yards or fiber content on the label, the fibers are not listed on Ravelry, but of course they weigh a lot, look like pure wool. I was looking for a pattern that would fit this amount of yarn and found Aunt Julie's scarf pattern .

This is the completed project. It knitted very fast. the only thing that delayed me was a few pattern errors that made me knit and tear for a while until I realized where the mistake was.

Here are the details up close. I wish my camera shoots a little better. The colors are much warmer than here.

I have 80 grams of yarn left. At first I thought I would get a coordinating yarn, make a proper hat, but the color was so hard to match that I gave up after a few months of shopping. If I had to start this project again, I would make a scarf out of this yarn, which I can throw away when the yarn runs out.

Last year, my foster sister, Gale, asked me to make her some sneakers that she saw on Pinterest. I told him he would not make it this year, when he complained that he had to wait, I asked him what happened to the couple I had prepared for him last year . He told me his heel was tired.

I plan to buy sneakers in April. But just as I was about halfway through my flip-flop project, a brain tumor was diagnosed in Gail. The day we were hoping to find out if the tumor was cancer, I went home to remind her to breathe. It is a pity that the test results show that there is a 95% chance that the tumor is benign. Gail was then assigned to neurosurgery on May 1st. I set aside my current project and released the slippers so Gail could get them for her hospitalization and treatment at home.

I bought a Slipper Socks model from Rea Jarvenpaa and asked Gale what color she would like her sandals to be. He told me blank. I had a bit of "winter white" fur, so I bought wool yarn as well as gray synthetic yarn for the sole to make these sandals more durable than the last few Gail's they were made with. completely wool.

And here is, to my great indignation, the turning point. The instructions are very incomplete. The model does not give details on how much wire is needed. Half of the sock knitting instructions that underlie this pattern are simply gone. There are no instructions on how to work the heel, turn the heel, take the systole, shape the foot, how long does it take. The shape of the foot or the toe ... For the socks , special instructions were included with the pattern, but since it required a different number of stitches than the one I started knitting from the instructions for the sandals, it is not not much used. The pattern does not say how much should be done on the edge where the side is. There are no guidelines for single medals. I'm not at all happy that I paid € 5.00 (EUR) for one copy and then had to write a third myself. I will not buy more copies of Rea Jarvenpaa!

I had a problem with the shoe as it turned out to be too wide, or that it was not a regular defect because I was using artificial thread for the inside, it was too big. I could more or less correct that. this problem, does only four of the five areas required by the footnote instructions, but until I found out that the footnote was too wide, I did not have time to cancel my hours. . He did it again until my deadline, I kept working, put on the sandals as best I could and finally finished it the day before the surgery.

Then, on the morning of May 1, I went to the downtown hospital where Gail was to be operated on, two minutes before he was brought out for the procedure. The wolf admired the sandals. Her three daughters brought their beautiful ball gowns (one of which has pink jumpsuits) with her and her ex-boyfriend, the Rolling Stones gang, to wear on her shaved head while she recovers. be the majority of street patients in the entire hospital. must be glued before surgery), and IV. Then we wait with him. The operation was supposed to be 12:30, but we were told it would be several hours late. Extra wait Gail's stress levels were not good at all and she started sobbing.

And then 15:00 they tell us that the operation has to be postponed for another day because the surgical team was ready but there were no university beds for the post-operation .. Poor Gale. She left the hospital with her long blonde hair, her new accessories in hand ... but without surgery. They also told me that her sneakers had arrived at the university.

Maybe ten or twelve years ago I knitted a beige cotton jacket with a very simple pattern of oblique ribbons, I have it in its minimalist style, this spring I decided it's time to take apart to create a new cream jacket that to suit my horse's taste. The rest of the yarn I have in my notebook weighs 700 grams (the twisted rib pattern absorbs a lot of yarn), which means I have a lot of yarn to work with, I do not know what brand it is. it is, but whatever it is, it is a quality product.

I was looking for a suitable vest pattern for Raveri and chose this one, Nini Cardigan, designed by Anne B. By Hansen: It's an amazing classic with just enough detail to keep things fresh and interesting.

And this is my version of the sweater. I just made a few small changes. I found that my size was a little smaller than it should be: 5.5 at an inch instead of 6 at an inch. I adjusted the pattern: I wanted to use the buttons of the first sweater instead of the new one, so I made six buttonholes instead of seven. I'm glad I got it, because the buttons look pretty good that way.

I was happy with the sweater and I was glad it only took 450 grams of cream yarn, which left me with 250 grams, read on to find out what I did with the other 250 grams.

In 2008 or 2009 my cousin Clementina gave me a big bag of yarn to give to her mother-in-law. It's a lot of yarn if it's a lot of dye, a certain color, but I'm pretty sure I'm ready for the challenge and I'm happy to accept the yarn. My cousin likes brown and she likes pink, so the first thing I made was a cable knit hat for him. He's very happy to have it and I'm sure he still has it, I did not see it in his closet too long ago. When Clementine had a daughter a few years later, I was thinking of making a suitable jacket for my granddaughter, but I wanted to wait until she was two years old, and so this plan came to me until was late. Now it's eight and 310 grams was not enough to make the sweater I had in mind, but this year I saw yarn in my yarn box and I thought it would be my boyfriend Olivia's jacket.

For this project, I turned to the Lavender design, an example I already had when I used it in 2016 to make a turquoise version of an 8-inch cauliflower .

And here's the complete version 2: It's one of those funny moments when someone has the * right * right number of threads to make a project. I thought I would have to cut the wire to make a bag in a different color, but I finished the project, the last part of a large bag. half a handful of yarn remains with a saving of 310 grams. Did I bomb the box, you ask?

Well, no, more so, except for the CN tower in the air.

This year, when it came time to plan a Bug birthday sweater for my nephew, I started asking Ravelri to find a suitable example. I finally decided on a very interesting one called 1209-08 from Sandnes Design. I have dark green in my notebook. DK Yarn Roll I thought it would be useful for contrasting colors, but when I go to a yarn store, I apparently can not find a matching yarn without it looking too dark and ombre. There were fragments so I decided to buy a wire that fits them well.My best choice seems to be dark blue with green dots.
