Cast On Fall 2017: A Review
Cast On Magazine has released its Fall 2017 issue . let's come, shall we?
Bouquet Saskia. Not bad, even with its curly edges and roughly sketched flowers, it's a bit raw and done. It's quite distinctive and the butterfly buttons are a nice touch.
A road with little traffic. I like these in general, but this chain makes me cringe. It should be asymmetrical, but it just looks ugly.
A Tisket, A Basket socks. A nice pair of socks.
Alpine mountain jacket. I love this piece, although I realize that the copious belt team will not tarnish a well-dressed woman. If this vest is for a woman who needs something larger than B cup, wear this belt around her waist.
Basketball cap for kids. At first glance I thought it was a small gym bag. This isn't a hat.
Color block tunic. I like the basic concept of a colorblock tunic, but the execution didn't go so well. The look is too visually fragmented.
Diagonally braided hat. A useful piece with some text detail to keep things interesting.
English diamond stopper. Pretty.
Ribbed stitch binding. Simply cute pillow.
Golden poplar gloves. Fingerless gloves usually show an extra finger than this one, and the effect is a little odd, like pointing at the fingertips, since the gloves' fingers are blown out of the tips rather than the design.
Aspen green weapons. I love her.
Let go of the street vest. oh i love it! The shape and details are good and those curved basket stitch panels give the sweater a line-flattering look.
Mosaic and chain stitch woven cushion. This model has a clever visual impact.
Read Giana. It's supposed to be a fox, but looks like a fox/anteater. Foxes' noses are not that long.
Napoleon + desert jacket. This is what the leather looks like and it's worth it because that stitching is awesome . It is impossible to make such a design at the waist, but it would be possible to secure the dropped shoulders and attach the sleeves more neatly.
Sasafra's orange gloves. Here we show the fingertips a bit more but also wrapped in rope I guess as the fingers were too long for the model's hand. It has a bit of a pattern on the back, but it's not particularly effective.
Picot Edge table top. Not a bad piece of furniture.
Red maple SMS gloves. It's like the Golden Aspen text gloves, only made on a light stone instead of a sports weight. I like the lighter look of the lighter colored yarn. I don't like the look or feel of oven mitts.
Ribbed pillow and garter. The basketweave rib stitch top is a slight variation on the pillow. I think I prefer the others because the smaller scale of the model gives the pillow a slightly smoother look.
Roaming check boot cuffs. I can only draw on the wrist straps if they can be lined over the top of the boot. You are not.
Market bag top to bottom. It will take everything to hell once you step inside the food.
Traveller. It has a dated look and the front of the zipper looks ugly folded so you can see the inside edge of the zipper like this.
Zig Zack fingerless gloves. These are very similar, look good and have a nice color.
