Cast On Fall 2018: A Review

Cast On has released their Fall 2018 issue. Let's see, shall we?

Austrian travel limit. Classic cable cover.

Traditional sweater for baby and child. Overall pretty decent, but it would definitely fix those flabby shoulders.

Cardigan with wicker seat. Not too impressed with this model's checkered knit waist. It looks awkward. I would reduce the depth and cut it like a bracelet. The sleeve detail is enough to liven up this design.

Bavarian column socks. This is the most beautiful pair of socks I've seen in a long time.

Bavarian model bell. A bell with a very attractive string. It scares me a little bit because it seems to be inspired by The Headless Horseman.

Birch sweater. I'm not very keen on this, but there are fads that can help. I'd fix saggy shoulders, maybe opt for a more finished edge, and also wouldn't use white, cream, or any other pale shade for the main color of this design. In my experience, adding color to light backgrounds never works as floats always appear as you can see here.

Bird Lover Tunic. It's a great job, not to mention A LOT of work, since it's a size 0 knitted braided lace thread. The shoulders are a little lowered but I wouldn't fix them as I think they work with respect to this specific design.

contemporary I'm not selling a color scheme here, but it's a beautiful traditional design that can easily be done in a more attractive line color scheme or solid color.

Also a three-way hat and a sweatband. These pieces have a very nice texture.

Évora. Oooh, this is gorgeous and totally wearable. The body is woven from two threads to be opaque, while the sleeves are clean and the lace at the cuffs and hem makes for a gorgeous look. Maybe I should do it.

honeycomb sweater. Certainly some of those gorgeous stitching deserved a better color than this dirty mauve.

Sleight of Hand reversible threaded scarf. In this beautiful cable factory.

Loudoun sweater. I like the sleeves and side details, but would prefer a more finished look and neckline than the ones used here.

Golf club covers for Morro Bay. These are very well made and any golf club with a set of these is sure to be the best dressed club in town.

Orbit. This looks pretty good and subtle.

Patrizio's jacket. I love to sew it.

Triple braided mesh. Overall a good part. I'm not exactly sure what's going on with the mid-arm streak effect, but I'd rule it out anyway as it's weird and attention grabbing.

Tulip Garden felt hat. Nice design, but do these designs look more like radishes than radishes for others?

Zephyr. A beautiful classic cardigan.

Zig zag sweater. I have to give this a "not bad" warning because I see very little of it.
