Cast On Summer 2018: A Review

Cast On is releasing a summer 2018 issue. Let's take a look at that, shall we?

Like an angel. I love the texture, but these oversized, bulky shapes are hard to hold.

Children's butterfly tapestry. The designer of this garment wrote that she created this model because she needed a long cardigan to wear over a sleeveless dress in the summer. It really looks like a useful item and the nice texture and pleats on the back add style.

Pillow with bow. This is not bad. I thought this decorative bow would piss me off if I tried to put it over my head, but in reality these pillows are almost entirely decorative. I'll use a more interesting topic.

we. This is a beautiful embroidery. I'm going to cut the neckline a little more to remove this top of the air a little easier.

asparagus hunting. Very simple, but very useful and elegant. I'll have the main edges overlap to eliminate any gaps between them, as leading edge gaps almost always create an awkward "too small" look.

guilty. Here we have the cover, which is a very interesting work of art.

drunken snake Classic scarf with braids and bows.

The fall of Colette. This is not bad. I feel like this project needs a different color palette because these twisted cards feel more like a photo shoot to me.

Imitation sheepskin cushion. Indeed, this is an accurate interpretation of a sheepskin pillow. And I guess that's fine too, depending on which thread you choose.

First Saturday (for girls). This is not an ugly mini dress. I'd say the color scheme didn't help and the rosebuds on the chest should be in the front of the dress, not the back.

First Saturday (for my mom). The lines on this dress are beautiful, but I would avoid rosebuds altogether as they look too cute for a mature lady dress. If you want to decorate this dress, I'll try repeating the stitches around the hemline and neckline, or I'll make the dress with a more interesting yarn.

Fishing in France. Here is another version of the classic Breton jacket. This is not bad.

Pull in motion. Classic honeycomb sweater.

Cordia leaves. A very attractive pair of socks. And this image is a welcome combination of colors; so far, this problem has been ignored.

Lorelei bag. I like the outside, but I wish there were more photos because I have questions about how this clutch bag is made and what it looks like when you hold it as you keep it. If it bends badly when held upright, or deforms when something is placed inside, it will not work as well as a clutch.

Miss Nancy's necklace. It doesn't look like a real piece of jewelry, but it looks like an ornament for a knitted sweater that has secretly decided to strangle its owner.

Free cut lace summer top. Not a bad topic. Users may want to wear them over other garments, so it's worth considering if you want to wear layers in the hot summer.

tea rose These are beautifully drawn rose buds and leaves - I've never seen anything I liked more.

Extra wide sweater with synthetic braid. Just like this one which is very striking and unique in terms of braided front jacket.

Rebecca West Village. Not bad. Embroidery is interesting. I will widen the neckline and slightly narrow the buttonholes and buttonholes in front.

Curvy socks. A very nice pair of chevron socks.
