Knitscene Fall 2017: A Review
Knitscene released the fall 2017 issue. Let's see, shall we?
Vest of all spices. I sometimes say in my reviews that the article seems to be written by a worried and depressed mother of seven children. It's definitely a design from that picture book. In this case, Mom didn't even bother to get dressed, just pulled on a loose, stretchy, slim sweater over her nightgown, and by the end of the day, she was smeared with peanut butter and smelled of something.
Arkins poncho. I'm not a big fan of the poncho, but it fits great and the seams are fantastic.
Ash vest. It looks like a not too good combination of 80s shaker and 90s grunge style.
Blake scarf. And here is the cover design. The texture is great.
Brighton hat. beautiful cap
Chile cardigan. The seams around the front edges and cuffs are well done and fairly well shaped, but I am concerned that the model will pull or hold the edges with every shot.
Blueberry vest. He looks so massive and lumpy.
Navy blue vest. It looks loose and it looks like the knitter who made it didn't have enough yarn to weave a continuous band around the front edges and decided not to use it and pass it off as a design feature.
mountain vest. This two-piece flat sweater features a shawl on top and a cardigan on the bottom. And I love the concept, but I wish the bottom half of the cardigan would fit better.
Mittens Logan. A simple and useful pair of gloves.
October vest. This one looks like it's made from leftover fabric.
seed vest. It wouldn't be so bad if the hunched shoulders were corrected, but that's nothing special either.
Walnut hat. I like its texture, but I don't like those unfinished curly edges. I would add moss stitch piping to this hood.
Weston socks. Classic pair of socks. That it won't go with a pair of ankle strap studs.
Smoky white vest. Some nice touches on this one. The back looks great. I've always wished the body had a little more shape, but for inexplicably ruffled cardigans, this is the best option.
Wynkoop cuffs. These boot cuffs aren't bad when it comes to their threading and elasticity, but the addition of fringe to the boot cuffs makes the wearer look like he recently walked knee-deep in a pack of rats.
