Knitty Winter 2018: A Review

Knitty has released its 2018 winter issue. We see.

Isosceles. It is quite agile, with graphic and textual interest. I also like to use a solid color on the cuffs and hem, but I thought I'd skip a solid color on the neckline.

Joru. I like the details on this. The designer comments on the model with his admiration for the Japanese aesthetic of subtle simplicity and I think he has achieved that kind of subtle balance in this design.

Kiernan. This one has dropped shoulders, a very low end, and a cropped length that regular readers of this blog will know isn't one of my favorite things to do. I have to admit this lady-turned-stylist made her cute, but I'm going to tweak all of that and create a simple striped polo neck that looks like a warm and cozy yarn.

postal crane. The combination of asymmetrical shapes and gradient strands creates an unusual contemporary vibe that I don't really like, but still looks fun and interesting.

Grayson. Elegant and captivating packaging.

Opposing interests. The combination of veins and swirls of color creates a look that the 21st century backyard prankster can wear.

crystal island A fun and elegant hat to wear with a solid color coat.

Black cabin. Oooh, are you ever surprised? The combination of two-strand gradients and the chevron pattern are a real hit.

kilim. I love the woven rug effect in this design, especially the blueberries and greens.

While you're out of focus , I like the "screen" pattern on the hat and the stripe of color around the brim, but not the yellow detail on the crown, which has something like a spider sitting on its back.

programmer's hat Even as someone who doesn't know how to code (but has done their part in tagging), I seem to enjoy myself.

Arrogant. For the cephalopod lover in your life who doesn't mind looking like a movie from one of the scariest episodes of The X-Files ! Seriously, it's a fun and well executed concept.

spinal torsion. Not bad. The play of textures and colors makes this hat interesting to look at.

tuff. It's kind of raw and ready for my taste.

fingers crossed. This is a nice pair of gloves.

Be big or be gnome. Very cute and funny, although I can't help but wish this gnome had a little more detail. I'm not entirely sure I understood it was a gnome motif without being told.

to remove. A great pair of cable socks. I met some guys who didn't interest me.
