Rowan 40 Years: A Review
Rowan celebrates his 40th birthday with a special collection of 40 works from his archives . I looked at their models only six years ago, so I looked at their anniversary edition, which means I've seen some of the models again. For fun, I referenced my review of the original design back in 2012 and asked if I had kept my word or not. When I started this review, I expected Rowan to really go back in time to provide a crossover of four decades of models. But they didn't. Most of these specimens were probably created within the last twenty years, and only one is from 1990. It was like going to the Museum of Modern History and seeing half the exhibits closed. But I understand why Rowan's editors did it. Fashion hasn't changed much in the last twenty years, it's easy to choose models from the last two decades that look modern and attractive by 2018 standards, while the last twenty models need some major tweaking to match their proper production. Many knitters are hesitant to do so much work, especially when paying for a newly released copy.
It's behind it's a 2000 example. It's such a simple classic that I'm sure it will look outdated one day.
Annie scarf. The design of this cape looks like 2009. Such a beautiful scarf will definitely never go out of style.
winter flower. Here is the 2000 model. I like the delicate floral theme, the egg is good, it would be interesting to highlight its colors.
Orkney. This vest is from 2012. I checked it out when it was released in 2012 , said I generally liked it, complained the neck and tip were weak. However, planting the sweater in the original frame did not affect the design of the model. He is sitting very well here.
Carlotta since 2004. At first glance, I doubted that this early 1980s model, I suppose, could be without pearls, but these decorations give a more modern look. Fine, but I could do it without pearls. The detail of the rose suits me very well.
Detective. Since 2007. Very good stuff. I like the slim and elegant box.
Coat in a cage. I don't know if this design was originally installed, as it's not in Ravelry. In fact, in the original photo, it looks better than in this one, because the first model allows it to hang freely. I love the detailing on the collar and cuffs, but can't resist changing them up a bit so they don't look bulky.
Evbea. Since 2002. It's amazing how this low contrast panel is a very traditional example. It turns out to be really refreshing: something else.
Agnes. The French nodes have been operating since 2004.
Sumak scarf. Since 2013. When I first inspected this scarf , I wrote, "The Soumak Scarf dress is really very effective if you are one of those people who can complete such drama (you resist constant beatings). If you're not the kind of guy, but you like the design, buy double yarn according to the instructions, knit a nice cut. I think it's just right. It has a wonderful texture.
Addison. Since 2012. In my review for 2012 I wrote: "Normally I wouldn't choose such a versatile sweater, but I wanted to highlight what sets this sweater apart - fabric, raglan, pipe collar, but meticulous design gives this basic design a finished look. Knit this sweater in your favorite color, և more wearable և you will really have fun than three or four intricate patterns և attractive sweaters. When I started blogging, I didn't create all the magazine review templates like I do now. I still think this is a very decent simple sweater design. And that it deserves a more attractive color.
Goals. Since 1999 So beautiful:
General Cellini. I don't know if it has been installed as there is no Ravelry page for it. It strikes me as one of those designs that on most women will look casual. Even this professional model cannot work.
Guzéli. Since 2009. Very nice product with a good texture that adds interest (և warmth) to a simple outfit.
Scarf Bressay Hap. Since 2007. It works better than I ever thought Afghan style could ever work, but it still reminds me of the former, not the latter.
Walker. Useful և Attractive packaging since 2010.
unstable. Since 1991 And this design is very much from 1991, because it stands out for its size and cut, which was rampant at the time. I don't know why at the time we didn't even think about finding the middle ground. I like the overall design of both sweaters, but would swap them out for a regular egg belt.
Valentin since 2010. It's undeniably quite legendary. It's one of those designs that you can't miss when you see it on someone on the street.
Inner down jacket. Since 2003. Pleasant and joyful aspect. I'll adjust the relevance և I like the idea I see in one of the Ravelry user photos I see on this Ravelry model page. Add a thin colored band to the collar, cuffs and ends.
Kintyre. I wrote in 2012 that it was a "magnificent sweater" . And I support this bold and controversial position.
A piece. Since 2005 Dear. I had been considering this design for a long time.
Locust. Since 2011. I love the floral pattern, but I can't help but think that I can change the shape of the flower to make it more standard. But I have to admit that this design works for Ravelry users who linked it that way.
Flora. Since 2004, it's been pretty cute. The edges of a "good horse" will turn an ordinary striped sweater into something beautiful.
Burly. Since 2009. Good job.
Lydia. Since 2010. The Fair Island pattern is great (it's a Kaffe Fassett design after all), but I would have changed the shape. From projects commissioned by Ravelry, I see many Rav users have done just that, using the Fair Isle pattern to make any sweater or foot warmer.
Celtic. Since 2006. Very nice comfortable jacket.
Development: Since 2001. Magnificent. This design also comes in a short version without a floral pattern, but I think it looks better with a floral pattern.
Kirkwall movie. Since 2012. That's what I said on my first run . “I like this cape, but only in theory. The theory is that it can only be worn while sitting on the sofa, it's cold. In the six years I've written knitwear reviews, I've never wavered in my belief that large-scale packaging is based on professionally shot photos. They look good, but in real life they are big and impractical. I don't see many women wearing them on the street.
Fog. Since 1999 Personally for me it's too minimalistic, but I must admit it's portable and looks good for all Ravelry users who have done it.
brave since 2013. Here is what I had to say about this design . "I want to see what's really going on with Dhura's design. Looks like a bag that is tied with a shoelace. I'm not happy with this concept. Only the capes can be annoying, adding a single volume will not help everything. If you want to make this collection for yourself, I recommend wearing them separately. It turns out in the coat kit лік scarf. I'm still not thrilled with the idea of combining a scarf and a cape!
Frances. Since 2014. Here is my summary of the 2014 results . They don't flatter most women, cling to things, generally look sloppy. The overall design is pretty sleek, but if I did, I'd do it standard with a shrug. “Today I coincide with me in 2014.
March. 2000: A classic style that can be worn.
Rapunzel. Since 2003 for me it's very similar to 2003 because at that time everything had its presence. It still looks modern and the embroidery is amazing.
Flora MacDonald. Since 2001 I like open lines, checkered lines, but I don't like square expressions.
Silent. Since 2010. It's one of those things that has a lot to do with elegance.
Monzi. I don't know when this pattern appeared as there is no Ravelry page for it. It's so big and personal որ that the model spends a lot of time making it look stylish.
Wentworth. Nice striped jacket, crane.
Game board jacket. Dated 2000. I like the yarn և plaid pattern used here, it works amazingly well together but not the egg.
snowball This is a sample that I can't find in Ravelry, so I don't know when it was first published. It's very nice. I like the floral pattern և tip edge և the egg is also good.
Olive. Since 1999 Quite attractive և intelligent.
