Vogue Knitting Holiday 2017: A Review
Vogue Knitting has released their Christmas 2017 issue . Let's see.
Pattern #1, Firm Sole Jersey. This is a very decent surplus sweater. Even if it fixed those flabby shoulders.
Pattern #2, Blanket. Attractive!
Pattern #3, Scandinavian hat. Cute and comfortable, with interesting and intricate embroidery.
Pattern #4, Striped Fair Isle Jumper. Nice piece, I love the neckline.
Pattern #5, Selburose Sweater. The snowflake motif is surprisingly eye-catching in a navy blue, and I love the addition of bright colors around the edges of the bracelet.
Pattern No.6, Hat with pom poms. I... I don't really see how that could be this problem. It was going to be archived with an old Vogue Knitting children's pattern from the 1950's and had it somehow gotten lost?
Pattern No. 7, sweater with jacquard yoke. Small. I'm not sure I like the red zigzag on the sleeves as it gives the impression that the sleeves are sewn to the body with red thread, but I think it works and gives the sweater an extra touch. .
Pattern No. 8, Scandinavian socks. Oh, beautiful and elegant socks! Submitted for possible project plans for 2018!
Pattern #9, Zippered Obi. An interesting accessory I have to admit adds a bit of flair and interest to this simple white shirt and black leather skirt. I didn't think I would get one because I'm too small to carry it around and I was pretending to be someone who doesn't know what a veil is.
Pattern #10, Modular Obi Belt. Nice belt and easier to wear than the above as it is much narrower.
Pattern #11, Fair Isle Obi. This is probably my favorite of the three obi, although I wouldn't go for those colors. Plums and greens are good, but motley pinks and greens are distracting and unattractive.
Pattern No. 12 Openwork Sweater. Not bad for layered products. It can be made from beautiful mohair or angora.
Pattern #13, chevron at top. I like how this one looks, although I would wear a slim tank top or blouse underneath for fear the lid wouldn't stay closed.
Pattern No. 14, lace waistcoat. Its matte color and loose, floppy stripes make this sweater essentially a knit.
Pattern #15, Light-Infused Poncho. Gosh, that poncho looks so unattractive. From the back, this model looks like a teardrop with sleeves.
Pattern #16, jumper with bent wires. I love the concept of this sweater but the shapes and proportions are odd and the back of this sweater looks sad and lost like it has just been separated from a lifelong partner. Pattern #14 was also crumpled up to the shoulders and then down. arm and changes shape.
Pattern #17 textured jersey. I'm quite impressed with the texture effects that are well integrated into this model and the shape is good. However, I will remove the hem at the top of the bodice and replace it with a line in a different seam, like the one used at the top of the sleeve.
Cut after 18, coat with shawl collar. Can be used, simple thing. This will fix loose shoulders.
Pattern #19 Bomber Jacket. It looks too similar to a startup project. Too simple and unadorned to have any interest or sophistication.
Pattern number 20 Adelaide shawl. This piece has enough interest and sophistication for five points. It's very interesting and I love it.
Pattern No. 21, Pleated Waistcoat. It looks like a bed jacket from an old movie from the 1940s. And it must still be there. Even this beautiful model cannot look silly and fussy with all her style.
Pattern No. 22, Bodice with Ruffled Sleeves. When I copied all the photos in this post, I didn't think I would like this one, but now that I've gotten around to writing about it and taking a closer look at it, I'm pretty sure I'll like it like it does keep. I love it. To me, this is a modern and understated take on the ruffle sweater. I wouldn't do it myself because I'm pretty sure it won't work well on a well-equipped character.
Pattern #23, A-Line Sweater. Reasonable. It looks amazing and it will be fun to showcase some beautiful yarns in your favorite color.
Pattern No. 24, Sweater with ruffles at yoke. That's a lot... 1982. And not in a good way.
Pattern No. 25 Danish Sontag Shawl. Attractive and timeless.
