Rowan Knitting & Crochet Magazine 62: A Review, Part 2
Today we are looking at the second half of the design in Rowan Knitting & Crochet Magazine 62 after discussing the first half three days ago.
Bradshaw. Classic braided turtleneck sweater.
Pasture. I love the detailing on the body of this coat, the back looks quite edgy but the front looks unfinished and the sleeves look ridiculous.
Midnight. The shapes and textures are cool, but I decided to do them with a motley yarn because I just needed a bit more visual interest.
Wheaton scarf. I rarely see a crochet scarf that I really like, but I really like this one with its beautiful twisted effect.
smoke bar. It's a refreshing take on the classic Fair Island yoke, it fits perfectly and I love the subtle neutral colourway.
Midnight Hood and Suns . I prefer this one which can be worn alone or layered and I love the versatility of the hood and the idea of a sweater set that I may have to make my own. Although I'm wearing a real belt over it, not a piece of thong or leather straps or anything around the model's waist.
Mandelbury. The texture is good and the color is nice, but it's not a cardigan because it's an afghan dress with sleeves.
Farley. It is very good. I also like pom poms, although I would make them smaller.
dark scarf This is quite an interesting and good way to add style to a simple dress.
Oxton. A beautiful classic.
Gransmoor. Very nice design with quite a few leaf and island diamonds even though I would have done it in a different color. This dark blue and light blue combo is popular with designers, but for some reason I never liked it - visually it's just a bit harsh and out of tune.
With a hoodie. It is very simple but quite portable.
Disappoint. It's good overall but has an unattractive boxy shape that doesn't favor this professional model. I would normally recommend adding a waist sheath, but in this case it can be tricky due to the tight fit of the fabric, so I'll probably opt for that design instead.
Obedience. The designer of this piece seems to have tried to spice up an overly simplistic outfit by casually adding a tie to the sleeves, and like most casually added design elements, that just doesn't do the trick.
ruin a spectacular coat with a mosaic pattern.
Sunset. Nice short vest. They can be tricky to put on, but they're cute over a dress.
It looks so haggard and crestfallen that even the model wearing it suddenly wants to sit in a dark room, wrapped in a blanket and eat marshmallows straight from the jar.
Evening. Not bad, even if this long and thin cardigan is rather difficult to wear. However, this is easy to fix - just make it a length that flatters the owner.
Thackery scarf. This fitted beanie appeared in the first part of this review and I really like this scarf. It is better to knit with a tube so that there is no "wrong" side.
